Heather Harrison
Background: Heather holds a BA in psychology from Bard College and a Master of Social Work from Smith College. She was formerly a social worker and program coordinator at the Lopez Island Family Resource Center.

Hamlet House Manager
Amy Hatchel
Background: After graduating from Lopez High School, Amy worked as a nursing assistant. She then earned her BS in Business Management. That led to a 25-year career as office manager for a dental practice while working in various nursing homes as well as adult family homes. In 2020, she returned to Lopez full time and joined the Hamlet House caregiving staff.

Hamlet Cottages Manager
Matt Newman
Background: Matt moved to Lopez in early 2025, after being a longtime visitor and wannabe islander. He had a long and enjoyable career in higher education, working mostly in campus recreation and athletics, and loves the get-out-in-nature vibes he gets from Lopezians. Matt was born in San Diego (thus a big Padres baseball fan), grew up in Nebraska, and earned his bachelors degree at the University of Arizona and his masters at Idaho State. When he’s not on the job at the Hamlet and enjoying the wonderful residents, Matt can be found biking around the island as well as supporting the Lopez Swim Center as a board member.
